Heart health advocacy

Advocating for better heart health across Australia

At the Heart Foundation, we work relentlessly to improve heart health through advocacy, policy change, and community action. Our efforts focus on heart disease prevention and practical ways to improve heart health across the nation.

Our advocacy reflects a deep understanding of the interconnectedness of various health and social issues that impact on cardiovascular health, driving forward our vision for heart health to be achievable by everybody in Australia by 2050.

From state-based initiatives to national policy submissions, we are actively working on solutions for how to prevent heart disease and ensure better heart health for everybody in Australia. Learn more about the key areas we focus on and how you can get involved in advocating for a healthier future.

Our recent advocacy wins
  • Secured a three year extension of funding the Medicare Heart Health Check.
  • Strengthened tobacco and e-cigarette control legislation.
  • Continued Australian Government investment in the Heart Foundation’s National Walking Initiative.
  • Secured Australian Government investment for remote community laundries as a way to help reduce incidence of acute rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease.
